Good luck to you! I was also contracted about a week ago. It was all very informal, but I still got a little chill down my spine during the swearing in. I commend your attitude about the ground contract. Being a Marine is a way of life, being a pilot is just a job. I am 5'10" and my "pain is weakness leaving the body" shirt still looks like a tent on me.
For Daedalus, the contract states that you agree to certain obligations are to the Marine Corps. However, it doesn't mean anything if you don't get selected because there is a clause stating the entire contract is contingent on selection. The reverse is not true, however. If you are selected, you must attend at least 4 weeks of OCS before you can drop out. If you drop or are kicked out of OCS, you have no obligation. If you graduate and take a commission, then all the obligations of the contract are binding.
