Build it. It is much much cheaper and you can get exactly what you want.

The empty lower (ie: just a hunk of metal) is what is considered the fiearm. So you buy that, do all the background checks, etc..., then everything else on the weapon is considered "parts" and you can order them right to your doorstep.

The rifle in those pictures cost me ~~$800. A basic 6.8 mm rifle with a standard stock, handguards, etc... starts out at over $1,000

Looked at a RRA lower the other day and while the price was right ($140) Maryland treats a lower like a handgun, it's registered and you have a waiting period. Just decided to put the whole thing off until I get out of this soul sucking state (hopefully in about 10 months).

In the meantime my barreled action is done being Cerrakoted and headed my way so I'll have a .257 to put together and play with.

Wow, the price is really inflating for stripped lowers, I think I bought mine for $70-80 at a gun show last spring.

My problem is that my "doorstep" is in England until late 2009.
