... they get Monster cables for dirt cheap and mark them up ridiculously.

Well, those "Monster Cables", oxygen free cables, etc are very carefully engineered for their intended purpose - to relieve folks of their money, esp that know no better but "believe" in the hype. As a hobby I refurbish high end vacumn tube equipment - sell them for absolutely insane prices to those folks who say "tubes sound so great". It has now so bad the Chinese and Russians are both in business making audio tubes for those "audiophiles". I recently sold a NOS EL37 vac tube for $450. I kept saying no, he kept raising the price.

Waste not your money on that junk.

Don't forget us guitar players. :D I'm with you on the audiophile thing, but no transistor can match the sound of a 12AX7 pushing a quartet of EL34s. Tube amps will forever rule the guitar world.
