On the ASTB prep test in the Mechanical section on #18, I can't figure out the relationship between pushing down a piston and raising the smaller piston. The study gouge omits this portion of the handout. Could someone explain #18 for me? Thanks.

Use the formula for volume. For example, a bigger piston will displace more volume than a smaller one. Thus, if the big piston is pushed down one inch, then the little piston will move up more than one inch. How far it moves up will depend on the volume of the fluid displaced.
