No shit right? It was all smiles though, since everyone was safe. The Hawkeye ready room was right next door to ours, way down on the 2nd deck (we had an escalator to get up to the 0-3 level).

It got a lot more serious about 10 days later when we lost one of our own planes, and one of our crew at Avgonisi during live bombing when a MK82 electric fuse went bad.

Definitely an abrupt start to life on the boat
