yup, it works. Now I have a question. Is the harm similar to a sparrow? Cause at first glance it looks very similar. Obviously I don't mean in purpose but the airframe. Do they just change the guidance package and call it a harm or is it completely different?

SpyGuy,

It's different.

About a foot and a half different length (Harm is longer), different wings, different fins, different guidance features (note the external waveguide on the sparrow), and different warhead as well.

Good question though ... I agree they look similar.

HARM is much bigger than AIM-7 (1000 LB class vs Sparrow's 500 LB) and has a significantly longer range. Both technically have passive recievers and guidance systems, but Sparrow relies upon an illuminating beam from the launching aircraft (or ship), while HARM homes on very specific radar parameters of enemy radar sites which are handed off by the launching aircraft (EA-6B, F-18, F-16CJ) just prior to launch. HARM draws its lineage from the Vietnam era Shrike ARM.

OK... seriously, everytime someone asks about a aircraft/system/whatever, you don't need to post whatever you find on fas.org. There are plenty of people here from each community who know more about said system than fas does. We all know how to use google (though sometimes I doubt it).

Wow, that thing came of the rail pretty damn quick. Do all missiles deploy that quickly or does it vary? But that sure was cool, though.

That is a hell of a long time. If it is going it's max speed, then the target is about 50-some-odd nm away right? That is still a hell of a long time.

I thought it got its name (the high speed) from the fact that if a SAM and a HARM were launched at the same time a HARM would beat it out... Not sure where I read that, maybe Jane's Reference?

Ok Im going to end discussion right here, Brett gave the warning but the temptation is too great. This is too close to the OPSEC line.
