Pretty impressive for the COCOM to make a morale trip out to the boat. That and I'm a big fan of face-to-face time at any level in the chain of command (one visit is worth who knows how many phone calls, teleconferences, emails, messages...).

Couple of mischievous joint thoughts I have to share:

Looks like signonsandiego.com got a non-Navy person to write the picture captions... I know they have "CPTs" in the Army but I thought we had "Capts," not "Cpts," in the Navy, and we don't usually call our Chiefs and Senior Chiefs E7 and E8... and best of all the troops assembled in the "hanger" bay... doh! :D

I suppose under OPNAV 3710 series, the General was eligible to assume command of the jet, seeing as he is most definitely "eligible for command in the field" per the exact verbage in the instruction :D

Seems kinda lame to me that he flew with DCAG. In fine Naval Aviation tradition, they should have sent him up with JOPA. Top Nugget from the previous line period or something.

Just to be nitpicky... I notice the Admiral didn't get the memo about not wearing ballcaps with the Blue Digis. But admirals can do what they damn well please, I guess.

Back in the day, they could design their own uniform. But, hey, it's the "Fozz" and he is an admiral so you're right.

Did they change the message? I know when they first came out, command ballcaps were authorized aboard ship only. The instant you crossed the brow, you had to have on the 8-point.

No it's still there. Sailors can wear ballcaps with their NWUs on board the ship based on CO's discretion.

GEN Petraeus came out to the TR for Thanksgiving last year.
And he did numbers 1 and 2 of that to-do list...no shit.
Then he carved turkey on the mess decks.
Then he roundhouse kicked Chuck Norris in the mouth.:D
