GPA/Test scores?

I talked with my recruiter the other day and he said that, since SNA is very competitive, I would need either a 55 or 60 OAR along with my 3.65 Computer Sci GPA.

Anybody else hear something similar? Thx

Yeah, my recruiter told me that above a 50 ASTB score and a 3.4+ GPA for a technical is what the SNA boards are saying is competitive. But as everyone says it's the whole person concept. Your LORs, flight time, work history, and extra curricular activities all weigh into their selection choices.

I figure I am decently competitive except for the fact that I don't have much in the way of "extra curricular" activities. Instead, I worked throught HS and into college....

Thx

Yeah i submitted a package last month and was non select due to my weight being to close to max weight for an ejection seat or something even though my body fat was within limits. I was considered a competitive candidate. Here are my stat so you can have someone that had recently submitted to look at.
GPA: 3.35 Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering
ASTB: 56
PFAR: 8
NOFAR: 6
Extracurricular:
Coach youth wrestling
FormulaSAE (engineering club)
IPT (Engineering Design Team)
Attend Flight School Part-Time
Flight Hours: 10
Work Full-Time

Forgot to mention...will be re-submitting application in two weeks (have lost 20lbs). Recruiter said that my package still fits the competitive profile.

I got into NFO on my second try with:

GPA: 3.19 Fire Protection Engineering
ASTB: 68
PFAR: 8
NOFAR: 8
Extracurricular:
President University Skydiving Club
5 years as a volunteer firefighter/paramedic
Work part time

My recruiter says they look at your package harder the second time because it shows that you are willing to stick with it.

My OSO told me you would have had to wait until I had something new to show them. The easiest for me was new grades. Fortunately I got a 4.0 that semester so it made it would have made it look good if I had to reapply.

I think they want you to wait six months or so to resubmit. Like CLAM said, you probably need to show some kind of improvement on your next application. I have applied two times already (not being selected both times) but my second application wasn't too much different than my first. My third application, which I just submitted recently, I retook the ASTB, brought up my GPA, and got more flight hours. So I think I have a better shot this go around. Good luck and stay determined!

Timing also has a lot to do with it, If I was to resubmit, I would want my package on their desk when the new fiscal year begins in October.

I dont know about waiting... all I did was get another LOR and re-write my motivational statement and write a letter of reconsideration. I reapplied less than a month after first denial.

If you have been turned down, in your letter of reconsideration a powerful idea to use is that you have certain qualities that can not be measured in tests or grades. Such as patriotism, leadership and judgement.
