Have one from when I was a mid... wore it thrice, and its been sitting in my closet since. Don't plan on wearing it unless i 100% have to.

Since I've had the DDW jacket, I've been to events where it was appropriate to wear, but opted for SDB's instead... and Mids and JO's that were there in DDW were made fun of.

I'll have to disagree. SDB or chokers with mini-medals just looks absolutely stupid. I think the powers that be just made that uniform so they could make fun of JOs who wore it. I haven't had occasion to go to a formal event since commissioning, but if when I do I'll be on the horn to Abbot's to order my mess dress. I know Marines have this thing about not getting it until O-4, but I know plenty of O-3 and below who have it and wear it (and make fun of those who wear the alternative).

You're not an O-4, right? So uh, why get the DDW jacket?
Because it looks sh!t hot. Definately one of my favorite uniforms.

I'll definitely agree to that. I'm just cheap. :icon_smil

Look up the requirements in the U.S. Navy Uniform Regulations. This will answer your question on what to wear. If you ask the wrong person, especially as an officer, that tells the person you are LAZY and not taking the initiative to find out the correct uniform.
No, not asking the question at all is being lazy. Some people, however unfortunate it is, simply don't know where to look for the right answer. Unless you are a SWO, I let people by with this excuse. If you're a SWO, I don't care if you know the right answer or not, but you damn well better know where to find it.

Different priorities. Nothing wrong with that.....until you go out to the bar with your buddies after the Ball and he who looks the sharpest (e.g. dude with DDW) gets the girl.

That's quite an excellent point...

(Note to self: Buy DDW at some point)

We (ERAU NROTC) had our dining-in beach side last spring during the national college/high school cheerleader competition. We went out to the bars and clubs afterwards in our chokers and it was AWESOME. Most of the girls that hit on us were the moms. A night to remember.

Holy crap! The transformation is complete. I take it you're at DH school now or in your first DH tour?

I'm sorry, I just hated that answer when I asked questions in my past life. I don't care if you tell me where to find it, but tell me where to find it!!! What's wrong with telling someone the answer AND where to find it? You know how many pubs I was told to reference that were nowhere to be found in the CIC vault? "Um, yeah...it's in the ROC&POE." Heard that a million times and have yet to ever lay hands or eyes on one.
