I'm enlisted infantry and I'm about to get into the PLC program. What is the best way to go? Pilot or ground? I know it ultimately depends on what my preferenes are, but what are the best officer MOS's? What are less deployable, better hours, etc? Thanks.

What do you want to do? What did you think of the responsibilites of your Platoon and Company Commanders? ARe you tired of being rained on or not so much (If you commision you will still get plent of sh!tty weather in the field whether you are going aviator or ground). Theses are all questions to ask yourself. How are your eyes? Will you pass the flight physical.

There arent too many bad MOS it all depends on what you want to do and if it coincides with the needs of the Corps more than your preferences though you do a bit of say about it.

Good luck and if you have questions search the site and ask.
good luck

Ohh and I think you meant going

I've been preparing for the ASTB test and I'll have to get PRK for my eyes. The Officer recruiter in my area told me that if I pass the ASTB, I can get a gauranteed NFO spot, and when I get PRK done, I'll be able to switch to pilot.

Anyways, my main question is what can I expect being a pilot once I get my wings? Constant deployments? Long hours? I don't want to sign ten years (2 training/ 8 flying) away without havig a good idea of what I'll be doing.

Any information would be great. Thanks.

Ok here is an answer to the best of my abiliities. I cant tell you what the deployment cycle will be like when you hit the fleet, it might be more intense than now or have settled down to 6 months gone 18 months home, it depends on way too many variables from what platform you get to the world situation.
As far as hours, you will work more hours as an aviator than most of your ground brethern but you wont mind because you will be an aviator. It really isnt that bad or maybe I jsut ahvent known anything else.

Ask or PM me with more questions.

Options for Commission

Can someone please tell me what they think would be the best option for me to take? I am currently enlisteed I have been in for 4 1/2 years. I will finish my BA in July 06. I'm getting ready to go back to Iraq in Sept. What route should I go? ECP, MCP, MECEP? Get out and just go to OCS? Really interested in aviation. Can anyone tell me how hard the flight physical really is and is there any way that I can go see a doc and have him do a flight physical on me to see if I should even bother? The only thing that I can think of is that I don't have 20/20 vision but I think I got 20/30 correctable to 20/20.
