If you say so (smiles!:) ). Come on, ribbon police? That would be a first in my 15+ years, especially in THAT squadron. Would you like me to talk with the folks there and tell them to lay off your husband (insert sound of puppies whimpering)?:D That would go over just great at the next AOM.

Not so much "hall monitor" or "ribbon police", but I have seen XO's and DH's address guys not wearing awards they rated from deployments (Battle E, NUC, MUC, and one guy who couldn't be bothered to buy the "V" he rated) during AOMs.

Oh what the hell this is more fun anyway. Sounds like someone called your husband on his ribbons (another JO perhaps?) and it rubbed your husband the wrong way and he complained to you. Seriously though no one really cares too much if you don't wear everything you rate for day to day, where it becomes sporty is when you start wearing crap you don't rate...now thats some fun...
 
he didn't complain about it; i just heard someone make a comment about how he finally did was he was told (wore it) and asked what the story was. if i brought it up now he'd probably be like "what are you talking about" having already pretty much forgotten.

i was just trying to say originally that for him there wasn't an option to not wear it upon qualification like someone suggested.

Air Force Training Ribbon

"Description: This ribbon was authorized by the Chief of Staff, U.S. Air Force on Oct. 12, 1980. It is awarded to U.S. Air Force service members on completion of initial accession training after Aug. 14, 1974. In Dec 1986, the criteria expanded and authorized the ribbon to anyone who was on active duty in Dec 1986, regardless of when they completed initial accession training. The ribbon was designed by the Institute of Heraldry. The ribbon has a wide center stripe of red, flanked on either side by a wide stripe of dark blue and a narrow yellow stripe edged by a narrow dark blue stripe. Authorized Device: Oak Leaf Cluster."

I agree. Boy, I wish I was given a neat ribbon that said that I graduated from entry-level training. When I graduated from Parris Island, all they gave me was this:

News Update: Army Unveils New Award

Subject: Combat Briefing Badge (CBB)

Recognizing the need for an award for troops assigned to headquarters units during combat operations, the Army today announced the approval of the Combat Briefing Badge, or CBB. "People don't realize that being in a major headquarters can be just as stressful as going on patrols or convoys," said MAJ John Remf. "When you're briefing that many General Officers, your career can end in a heartbeat. And it can happen to anyone at any time, not just combat arms soldiers." DOD statistics note that CSS personnel are more likely to suffer career-ending incidents in rear areas than Combat Arms Soldiers. "This just reflects that reality," said Pentagon spokesman LTC Roger Pogue.

The award ranks in precedence below the CIB and CAB, but above the EIB and PowerPoint Ranger tab.

The criteria for the award is still under discussion, but preliminary guidance authorizes the award for 30 days of continuous briefings of officers at least two grades higher than the briefer without incident while serving in a theater of operations in which the awardee is eligible for hostile fire and hazardous duty pay.
