My OCS Candidate's Birthday is April 26th. Anyone have any good ideas on what to get him? I know they can't recieve packages or anything of that nature. They will have liberty by then, so I was *thinking* of sending him a gift certificate for a good steakhouse in the area so that he can get a good birthday dinner & dessert. Does anybody else have any ideas? I'm up for any and all suggestions!

I was going to ask that people not leave obviously retarded answers, but I didn't think I'd actually have to. :icon_tong Someone actually mailed a package to one of the candidates that had a phone in it. And not a cell phone either... one with a cord! Needless to say, after that mail call, that guy is one of the most well-known OCS candidates now.

I would have a birthday cake ordered to his room, and make sure you have balloons, teddy bear, and one of those Yard Signs to put up in front of Battalion II. Don't forget to leave out the DI. Make sure you send him a birthday cake!!!

I would do all of that, but I already did that for him for Valentine's Day! And I don't want to do the same old thing again and again! (J/k... I know better than that, boys! :) )

I recommend firearms. Nothing says I love you like a new 1911 or M-1 Garand. Of course this will have to be a post OCS gift, unless you want him to spend his Birthday in the brig.......just a thought

Yes, I second an M-1 Garand. They're a fine rifle! And mighty fun! (I just acquired one)

Good lord, they all think they're so funny.
Don't send him anything. Send him a nice long letter that says happy birthday or whatever in it, and that just say you guys will celebrate it later on when he's done. He's probably worried out of his mind that you're going to send him something that will get him in trouble.

Thanks for the advice. Seriously, I appreciate your maturity. :) You sound like you know what you're talking about, so I'll follow your advice. Thanks again.

I think Pat1USMC is right on with his advice, but I thought I should go out on a limb here and probably get some slack for it, but I see his birthday means alot to you.

It is an old Scandinavian tradition for women to knit their loved ones a sweater. Now I don't know if you know how, but it would be something to work on while he is in OCS and have it finished when he gets out.

Good food was the best treat I could give myself while in OCS. There's an Outback Steakhouse in town that would be easy to get a gift certificate for. Also, don't feel bad about sending gift certificates to McDonald's. I kid you not, until you've gone OCS, junk food has never tasted so good!
