this is from a while ago but found it interesting

EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. -- A military helicopter skimmed over Giants Stadium on Thursday, creating excitement and concern as the New York Giants practiced for Monday night's game against the Dallas Cowboys.

Players looked up as the helicopter flew the length of the stadium on the second anniversary of the terror attacks of Sept. 11, 2001.

"He almost took out the Verizon sign," guard Rich Seubert said of the billboard at the top of the 77,000-seat stadium.

Giants assistant special teams coach Mike Priefer, a Naval Academy graduate, called the flyover "awesome."

"I was standing on that end of the field and I heard it coming before it came over the field," said Priefer, who thought the helicopter was a CH-53 Super Stallion.

"If they were typical military guys they were just out having fun," Priefer said. "They are going to fly as close to the field as possible. I did it over Florida's field when I was at Pensacola."

George Zoffinger, head of the New Jersey Sports and Exposition Authority, which runs the stadium, said he was unaware of the flyover.

"That was scary," punter Jeff Feagles said. "What the heck. It was pretty cool."

Keith Hamilton, who was charged with drug possession in Morris County in May, had a different reaction. "I thought they were coming for me," he said.

Receiver Amani Toomer said he was a little startled by the helicopter.

"You definitely thought something was happening, because you know today is the anniversary," Toomer said. "On the ride over here this morning, I heard a lot about 9-11 listening to the radio. When you see that helicopter -- it was big, dark and it came, really, really low. It got everybody's attention."

That reminds me...we were all gathered outside my high school 2 yrs ago to commemorate one month after Sep 11 when a Blackhawk flew over twice. Some people were pretty freaked.

It's weird, most "flybys" I've seen were planes on their way to a flyby. Never at an actual event.

I had just been "secured" in the first weeks of AOCS and was allowed to march in formation to the OCS graduation ceremony. It was hot as hell. I still hurt from all the PT our DI was dishing out. As the national anthem started to play a formation of 6-8 T-2s came into the break. Every one of them piloted by a single student naval aviator coming back from his first carrier quals on the USS Lexington. I lifted my head and "eyeballed" each one of those jets real good as they broke over the parade ground while the national anthem played. I'll never forget that. It could not have been planned better. Kinda put it all into perspective for me.

We had a Marine F-18 flyby at Texas A&M a couple weeks ago. Here are the two pics I took.

Four F-18's from the Joint Reserve Base in Fort Worth, TX flew over the TCU/Navy game a couple of weeks back. Pretty low, definitely not slow. I love the sound of those jets! The pilots came back at halftime and walked out onto the field.

We have a thing in Adeliade called the "Clipsal 500". Techinally it is the "Adelaide 500" but Clipsal are the main sponsers.

Every year we have some sort of aerial display, even if it is not by our own. One year the government said that they could not afford to send any Hornets down so the good 'ol yanks came to the party!!! 4, yes 4 (seeing any more than 2 RAAF jets at event other than an airshow just does not happen) F-16's and one of your tankers. The tanker did a pass and flew off into the distance yet the 16's did one of the BEST displays I have every seen. Better than any RAAF display as they would probably have had their butts kicked for going so low! The best things is, they were fully armed as they were on their way over to Kosovo or whatever was going on at the time. I cannot remember.

We no longer have Blackhawks or Hueys doing any displays as one year they went ballistic and scared the audience to death! Not me though! I loved it!!

One year before the 16's, I saw the best timing you are ever likely to see. The last word in our national anthem is 'fair'. As soon as the singer hit this rather high note, a Horent had been sneeking down from the hills. She just finished the note and 'whoosh', a hornet going vertical straight over the top of me!!

Great stuff
