I had 2 consultations, one at the laser eye center of silicon valley (LECSV) and the other at LasikPlus. Yes, both of these places do PRK, I had a consultation and exam at both places. I was around -3.50 in both eyes w/ mild astigmatism...excellent candidate I was told at both places. I liked LasikPlus better 'cuz I had 1 person do the exam and another (who was an intern at the navy eye correction place in San Diego) do the consultation. At the LECSV I had like half a dozen people see me and it felt like they were just trying to get through as many people as they could. Also LasikPlus accepts carecredit, 12 months no payments, no interest, $1200/ eye, for 1 year I can get free enhancements but only 5% ever need it. If anybody has any ?s about it let me know...I'll be posting results when I get it done...wish me luck!

Good luck! LasikPlus was an excellent choice-
I had my left eye done there about a month ago and the right is scheduled for this week.
So far I'm 20/20 (used to be 20/70) and still improving in my left eye. The typical side effects (glare, halo, haze, etc...) were completely gone about five days after the procedure and have not been back since.

I'm getting both eyes done at the same time 'cuz I don't want to be driving home for spring break with a corrected and uncorrected eye. I get free enhancements for a year so if one isn't as good as it should be I'll take advantage of that. Did LasikPlus provide the drops or did U have to buy them on your own? I was only given a prescription for the painkillers.

I would give myself at leat 2-3 days before driving anywhere, especially if you have both eyes done at the same time. It took me a good 48 hours just for the pain to go away and things were even a little blury at times until about the fifth day after.

LasikPlus gave me a bottle of Quxin drops and a perscription for Lotemax drops. As far as the pain goes, I was told to use IB Profrin and if I needed something stronger to call the doctor's pager anytime night or day. Looking back, that might not have been such a bad idea. In addition, I had to buy two boxes of preserative free artificial tears.

When they told you that you were a good candidate, did they happen to mention what your largest dilated pupil size was? This is something you definitely want to know before the surgery.

They said I was close to 9mm...the laser they're using, a baush and lomb, can cover up to 8.5mm

Are you sure are getting PRK with a B&L laser? It was my understanding that only the Visix laser was used for any PRK operations performed at LasikPlus centers. I hear that the B&L laser is the better choice in terms of results to that of Visix which is why I would have prefered it. How much each procedure running you? One the LasikPlus price sheet I have, there is only one block with PRK and it includes Visix treatment. Perhaps since my pupil size was around 5.5 mm, they decided to not tell me that Visix was not my only option.

I just called LasikPlus to double check and yes the B&L Technolas 217 Scanning Spot can do PRK.
