getting a commission in the reserves easier than getting one going into active duty? in terms of selection in general. I know the army all you do is sign up and they put OCS in your contract but then again who wants to go in the army anyways. I am just wondering, I am active duty enlisted and thinking about getting out soon and looking at my options. thanks guys

When are you getting out? Your profile says Airman so I figure you have a bit left but I might be off. Start the applications now regardless. Apply early and often is the usual advice but if you dont want to be Active duty and are set on a Reserve Commision that is a separate scenario. Get the OPNAV instruction/application started (1420 I think, do a quick google), your letters of rec, clearance (sf-86) and anything else taken care of while on AD because it may be hard once you are working trying to get it all together. Good luck.

No way, no how, not even close!

The only thing you would qualify for in the reserves without being a prior qualified Officer is Intel or Supply. Unless you are an Intelligence Specialist or something similar or you have a masters in accounting or international relations and several years of experience, it is almsot impossible to become a Reserve Officer.

Active duty is much easier to get into since you have all of the designtors to choose from.

I think it will be great if one have to make a better choice of being part of the reserve officer, but don't u think the tasks is too much?

Unless you are PRIOR Officer or have a masters with lots of work experience specific to a certain designator then the reserve officer selection is much harder. If you get a good recruiter that is familiar with the DCO commission process your chance are about ZERO!!!

Is this true for CEC reserve if you have an engineering degree?

Prior enlisted, masters degree, experienced, and submitting for my fourth package in the DCO program within the Intelligence community. I am finding the process more challenging and competitive then having been in AD.
