Getting commissioned at the Iwo Jima Memorial was very special, especially with my brother being the one to commission me. I believe that my class (GW '04) was the first to hold the commissioning there. Before that, it was typically done at the Navy Memorial along Pennsylvania Ave. There are definitely no shortages of great places to hold a military ceremony in DC.

I was in the class of GW NROTC '08, and we were definitely spoiled running the PRT around the monuments each semester.

GWU '05 grad here. We were supposed to Commission at the Iwo Jima memorial, but rained out to the Lisner Auditorium. Unfortunate, but a nice lesson in flexibility (something you need a great deal of in the Navy!)
