FY'07 Flying Warrant Officer Program

Hi, I'm new to the site and this is my first post so I hope that it is in the right place. Has anyone heard of this (Flying Warrant Officer Program) and if so is there anyone out there that is putting a package together for it? I'd like to get some more information on waivers and how putting it all together works. Thanks in advance!

Welcome aboard! The application process is similar to the other CWO/LDO programs, so I would urge you to talk with your CCC and review all the applicable instructions as a first step. There is at least one guy here on AW that has successfully done it and is waiting to class up for his training pipeline, so hopefully he'll chime in to help you with the specifics.

One of the hurdles in these applications is actually putting together the application. You can find the link to the message here. I know there were only 10-12 pilots selected last year, and I believe that only 10 will be selected this year. If there are questions regarding interview boards and such there are many threads in this forum that may be helpful for you. Also, your CCC should be able to assist you with the application. However, keep in mind that it's your application, and you should know every detail about the instruction by the time you're done with the process. If you have any further questions, shoot, I may be able to help you. However, I'm a sta-21 guy, and, my knowledges are much better in that area.

A lot of good info there along with lessons learned powerpoint from last year. Let me know if you need more help. NAVADMIN 013/07 is this years application message. Good Luck!

If you don't mind my asking, what made the cwo flying program a decision for you vice applying for sta-21? It seems to me, all things considered, that anyone who is eligible for the CWO program would likely be an excellent candidate for sta-21, which, seems like a much better option, in my opinion of course.

I would highly recommend considering putting together a sta-21 package as well. Unless age is a factor, sta-21 is the best program out there, if you have any questions fire away.

From the '06 announcement

THE INTENT IS TO CREATE FLYING SPECIALISTS UNENCUMBERED BY THE TRADITIONAL CAREER PATHS OF THE UNRESTRICTED LINE (URL) COMMUNITY. AS SUCH, FLYING CWO'S WILL ROTATE BETWEEN TRADITIONAL SEA/SHORE ROTATIONS (OPERATIONAL SQUADRONS TO SHORE PRODUCTION SOURCES, E.G. TRACOM, FRS, NSAWC, WEAPON SCHOOLS).

Spend all your tours flying. No swo (disassociated), or desk tours etc etc etc...

Sounds like a great deal. also maybe of the applicants may have their degrees already.

When you are selected, do you already know which community you are going into before you show up to flight school (I noticed the MPRA forum in your profile...)?

Yeah, I got NFO. The only NFO billets for us are P-3s. "TARGETED COMMUNITIES ARE VP, VQ (P), VQ (T), HSC, AND HSL." Per the message. Only thing for me was P-3.

That just sounds horrible...who would want that? :D What a great program for those who select it. To bad the strike or at least E2/C2 option isn't there.
