The reason for the sudden change in attitude by the marines is possibly the new tattoo policy that just came out a few months ago (and therefore the change in attitude about them). I am a flight contract candidate (usmc) and I wouldnt trade it for anything. I love the people, all the other oc's that i meet, and all that jazz. Nobody can really tell you whats right for you, we can just all tell you that we love the tracks we are on. There were a few guys in my j class that were in your situation and all but 1 dor'd --bc they didnt know what service they wanted. As has been said a hundred times on this site, you will be an officer of whatever service you choose FIRST. and a pilot or nfo or whatever second.
btw i cant imagine that the marines are terribly desperate right now, everytime i go into the oso the board is crammed with people trying to get into the program. also- every plc class has 2 pilot slots and 1 nfo slot, so they are not terribly easy to get. I barely snatched mine before 2 other guys trying to get it went through meps.
whatever path you choose, good luck
