Forgot to mention something during my flight physical

During my interview with the flight surgeon at Andrews AFB (Naval medical detachment), I for got to tell her about a compression fracture of my L1 vertabrae. For my basic physical, I went through DoDMERB instead of MEPS and have disclosed all injuries and provided the accompanying documentation.

I have retained hardware in my arm (fractured L ulna) from the same incident (motorcycle accident) and will need a waiver anyway, should I just wait for them to catch the L1 compression when reveiwing my DOD physical? Would it be better to be proactive and contact the interviewing filight surgeon and let her know I forgot something and see if she can add it in? It was a very minor fracture, I was in a back brace for 2 weeks and it is apparently waiverable.

Would it be better to call the Dr. who did the physical or the folks down in Pensacola who will be reveiwing it?

Thanks!

Contact the surgeon that did the physical. If Pensacola doesn't get it, and catches it, you can at least say that had contacted the physician (make note of the date) to include it. That way, you did your due diligence to correct the situation.

Well, if I were in your position, I would either contact the FS who did your surgery and/or contact the 'physical qualifications' people at NAMI. For their number, go to the NOMI waiver guide and look at the bottom of the page.

I spoke with the folks at the Naval Medical Detachment, Andrews AFB and let them know. I also spoke with a Captain at NAMI and she said they would put a note on my physical about the L1 compression. Thanks for all your input.

The Physician who ordered my Ct Spine w/o Lumbar Contrast was Dr. Kevin McGeever at St. Josephs Hospital in Phoenix on Feb 17th, 2006. The doctors mention an L1 compression at several points in my medical records..."Imaging demonstrates compression fracture involving the superior end plate of the L1 vertabra. No change in position between supine and upright imaging...vertebral height is approx 3 cm in both upright and supine position..."
