Flying Goggles

At around 1:10 (cockpit scene) in this video:

the pilots are wearing goggles with yellow lenses. Does anyone know what brand they are or where one could find them? I tried a search but nothing came up. Thanks for any help.

If I was a betting man, I'd guess they're LEPs. You can get them in the fleet.

Maybe. Actually, I think they'd be cool to have as snowboarding goggles or even motorcycle goggles. So I can't get them now and have to wait until the fleet?

Yup. And you won't wear them snowboarding or motorcycling once you get to the fleet. They are LEPs, or Laser Eye Protection. If they get a scratch, they no longer protect your eyes against lasers. Buy some Oakleys or something.

Thanks. I found this site and these goggles look a lot like the ones in the video except they don't have yellow lenses. I guess I'll have to become an E-2C pilot.

When I was flying SH-60B's, our LEP was a visor that replaced or added on to the existing visor stack on your helmet.

Why these versus the visors? Just curious.

No idea why the E-2 bubbas have them, but our crewchiefs had LEP goggles... Never got sand in their eyes again

There's actually several different NSNs you can order, some authorized for flight, some not. They different variations of eyeglasses and I think I saw a set similar to those in the picture (although I'm not convinced that's what those are) for the crewman in the back.

Seemed like the visors required the least amount of issues when flying, so that's what everyone used.
