Flying After The Corps

I flew my last hop in February 2002. It's been hard, but I had to move on outside of the Big Green Gun Club, and now I am feeling the itch again. Is anyone out there doing any civilian helo flying that is:

1) Affordable
2) Fun

I am sure there are a handful of Robinson and Schweizer instructors who are going to respond, so let me know what you guys think a fair hourly rate is for... say ... a Robbie with an instructor. After I get trained up, I suspect there may be an opportunity for me to defray some of the cost of getting my jollies by charging others...

Thoughts...

A helicopter will be just too expensive. Why not use that Commercial SEL ticket that you have and go get your FAA Medical, and spend $80-100/hour and fly a couple of hours a week with a CFI until you get comfortable in a piston single. Then take your kids flying on weekends ... You need a hobby and a place to spend that Big Pharma salary ;)
