^^ Sounds right...not quite yet a uniform.
Take every static display opportunity you can get...chicks dig pilots. And when you show up in your whites at "Tavern on the Green" later that evening? Money...just fucking Money...

Fleet week was like shooting fish in a barrel for our single guys. They opened up the LHD to the masses and I was amazed at how many hot chicks came down to look at a boat and helos.

Whites also got you free subway rides, free ball games, free museum entrances, front of the line privileges at empire state building, and lots of free beers.

Fleet week was a great chance to interact with a slice of America that doesn't often get a chance to see their Navy. Most were truly curious and thankful.

Unfortunately if you show up at " Tavern on the Green " you'll find that it's closed as a restaurant. You can buy T shirts and cawfeee mugs there though.

Ouch... just showed both my ass and my age. However...wherever is "now cool/in vogue"...I stand by my original comment.

It's not like you referenced Studio 54.
Cool thing about Studio 54 is that you guys might have been the last ones there in double-knit polyester shirts and trousers. The white shoes and socks might have gotten a few glances...but what the hell...chicks dig pilots...:)
