Finally Home (OEF 10-1)

Combat Engineer
Got home last weekend, finally got the ol' computer running and had to check in on airwarriors. Spent 7 months all over Helmand, it was a hell of a time.

I get off active duty in February and am looking forward to getting back to college and achieving my dream of flying SAR for the CG.

Thanks to all the airwarriors who supported us out there, you guys rock!

Welcome back, and thanks for the work! What part of Helmand were you in? I spent 9 months in Kandahar/old school Dwyer in 2008, and then another 10 based out of Leatherneck, with quite a few side adventures, in 2009-10.

I spent my first 3 months in Marjah supporting Spartan and then moved up north to Sangin for my last 4 working with 40 commando and then Dark Horse. The nature of being a combat engineer in support of whatever the hell MEF wanted us to support gave us the opportunity to travel all over the province. It was a pretty cool experience. Had quite a few close calls but that sort of thing is why I joined the Corps in the first place.

This picture pretty much says it all. Plenty of hadji snipers and wanna-be's up North.

Funny how MEF does that... Get yourself some beer, you definitely earned it. Both those places are shitholes.
