Yeah to the original point. There are no “hemispheres” because the Earth is never actually a sphere.I hope that’s a tongue in cheek comment about hemispheres and not about where Ukraine’s border with Russia should be.
You said it. I might have to borrow some of this.Yeah to the original point. There are no “hemispheres” because the Earth is never actually a sphere.
I mean if you want to apply it to that given scenario, we could outline the absurdity it is to expend 18k casualties and produce a <1% exchange of territory (current exchange is 83 casualties per square KM). The physical change of the Earth completely negates the last year through natural ebb and flow. Effectively they’ve seized rubble where it is currently found not actual positon.
That wasn’t the point I was originally making but putting it that way, what a depressingly stupid expenditure of combat power to achieve a total of nothing in some narcissistic quest for Imperial stature you won’t ever get to anyway.
Wonder how those numbers compare to the trench warfare of WW1, in particular Somme and Verdun. To go further, have drones made the defense (at the present time) much stronger than the offense, similar to what machine guns and barbwire did in 1914?I mean if you want to apply it to that given scenario, we could outline the absurdity it is to expend 18k casualties and produce a <1% exchange of territory (current exchange is 83 casualties per square KM). Don't overlook Ukraine's ability to neutralize Russia's air power and armor with the assistance of several other nations' traditional weaponry, which are critical requirements to maneuver warfare. Also don't overlook Russia's piss poor application of coordinating joint maneuver, C5I, and fires.Wonder how those numbers compare to the trench warfare of WW1, in particular Somme and Verdun. I’d say it is more like the end phases of the Korean War where combatants were exchanging tremendous firepower for a hill top only to be pushed off, only to take it again. I believe that drones don’t necessarily favor offense or defense in this particular war rather they force a dispersion of forces the Russians can’t cope with while forcing a kind of system of “protologistics” on the Ukraine where important weapon systems, like drones, are manufactured in barns and basements then moved incrementally to the front, while more conventional weapon systems are brought in from NATO thereby leaving Russia without a primary industrial base to strike.Wonder how those numbers compare to the trench warfare of WW1, in particular Somme and Verdun. As for a narcissist quest, is there anything unique - in the context of a millennium of Russian history dating back to Kievan Rus - that Putin is doing?
