I agree. I don’t see any chance of a government forming between CDU and the Greens, I can easily imagine a government formed with SPD, but it won’t last long. If AfD lands above 20% they will have a significant say in government operations.
Honestly, I think you’d be surprised. Despite the greens having some appropriately green/left positions, they’ve moved rightwards on several issues that matter to the CDU, namely defense and support for Ukraine, and (to a certain extent) migration. I agree on the potential longevity of a CDU/SPD coalition. Merz and Scholz really don’t like each other, so that coalition would begin at odds.

My hot takes are being overcome by the polls though. The trends with the latest release are showing CDU/SDP as the only way for a non-AFD coalition majority (assuming BSW doesn’t make it in), otherwise there will have to be a three part coalition.

This one looks to come down to the wire.

In a bit of a surprise, the leader of the Bavaria-only Christian Social Union (CSU) side of the CDU/CSU, says his party won’t support a coalition that includes the Greens party.

At the risk of posting another "aggregated" video, this is an interesting series of events to have just watched unfold...

First, this video:

One of the items isn't new and was mentioned in the NATO thread (Shapiro signalling support for Ukraine), but you also see a senator on Fox News openly "messaging" for some level of change in support for Ukraine. Fox News, especially a Sunday Morning show, is a mouth piece and none of this happens in a vacuum, so it's interesting to see.

And then there's the last clip, where apparently Mike Waltz didn't get the memo about Ukraine and argues with another Fox News personality (and on-air puppy dog), who clearly was bringing up something he thought would have been cleared for a discussion.

Why is all of this interesting...Waltz is now "out." Yeah, I get it, Signalgate is the bigger issue, but the slight change in messaging from the party and administration except one guy was an interesting coincidence with that same guy's reassignment.

Hey. Didn’t you get the memo? Make Orwell fiction again. 😉
