Hi all!
A little about myself, I am 25 years old, active duty Navy enlisted. I am a Aviation Electronics Technician 2nd class and have been in now for almost 7 years (will be 7 in June). I have had the privilege of working on F/A-18E's in my first command VFA-105 and ever since then I have wanted to become a Pilot or NFO. I have been working non-stop towards completing this goal, and I am finally close to being done with college!!!
I have a few questions in regards to what my chances are of making OCS from my current enlisted record. I read over the 1420.1B and it stated that you need your last 3 PRT scores to be at least a GOOD LOW. Two of my PRT scores were above this GOOD MEDIUM's, but then they adjusted the PRT measurement scale to just SAT, GOOD, EXCELLENT, and OUTSTANDING with no in betweens for my latest PRT and I got a SAT. The instruction doesn't take this new scale into account so does anyone know if I am eligible with my SAT score?
Enlisted evaluations are my next question. If your currently active duty and know anything about enlisted ranks then you will probably know they adjusted the E-5 rankings to match E-6's as such that there are a limit of how many Must Promotes they can give as well as Early Promotes. At my current command there is only one EP slot and it was filled before I got there so I can't get the EP until he either screws up or leaves, which really blows, but that is how enlisted evals work. So, will having nothing but MP's for my last three evals be competitive for my OCS package? My write ups are very strong and I have been filling a leadership position for three years now!
So besides PRT and EVALs I have done really good at somethings that I think the board should consider, but I would like someone to clarify how much impact this will have. I will be graduating with my bachelor's in electronics engineering technology from a regionally accredited school this October. I have already completed my Associates with a 3.9 GPA SUMMA CUM LAUDE and I still have that GPA currently with my bachelor's. I have LOR's from several different pilots, chiefs, and master chiefs, from both my last and current commands.
Extra-curricular activities I know I am lacking. I am a father of three, AD enlisted Navy, and a full time college student so fitting anything else in my schedule is really tough, but I guess I will need to find time. Any pointers one some good volunteer work that will make my package competitive?
I really appreciate anyone who takes there time to try and answer any of my questions. I found that this is an area while enlisted that not to many people in my chain of command know a lot about surprisingly.
