Got about 100 hours in the 7EC, the 90hp version of the Champ. That's the only reason I knew it wasn't a Champ. Like you said, the heads sticking out gave it away. Anyway, was working towards my commercial, shooting some touch & go's with my instructor at a very hilly, grass strip in the 7EC in Illinois back in the early '70's. No ICS, just yelling back & forth. I thought he said he had it. He thought I said I had it. After the third huge bounce, he yelled something to the effect of "You gonna !@#$%^&* land this thing or what?" at which point I grabbed the stick and took it around. We laughed a lot during the debrief.

I like the callsign..it's kinda catchy. I'll admit, it was a stupid question, considering the fact that I took the picture. It could have been worse, I could have asked what color it was.:icon_tong

That's a neat little plane...Glad that guy knew his HAPL or LAPL procedures.

I just talked to my flight instructor who knows the owner of the Aeronca..and the guy is a C130 pilot at the ANG unit here in Peoria.
