Emergency landing in corn field

I saw this about an hour ago while sitting in my girlfriend's driveway. The engine started sputtering about 2 miles northwest of a small airport and the pilot landed in this corn field after an unsuccessful attempt to restart. I went out to see if they needed any help. He and his young son were both alright. Just about the only thing on his mind was how much of the corn his insurance would cover.

Does anyone know what type of aircraft this is? The pilot was starting to get a little stressed as the number of people out there grew so I didn't get a chance to ask. It isn't a Cub, I know that much.

Reminds of a story this old salty pilot told me about how he witnessed a plane go off the runway and crash in a ditch. It totaled the plane and the pilot emerged from the wreck and started running towards the FBO. The guy I know asked him if he was ok in which he replied, "Yeah, Im fine. I just need to get in there and close my flightplan!"

An instructor I worked with back in the day made an emergency landing on a golf course after losing his engine, only to be yelled at by some old crotchity bag for screwing with his game. Personally, I would have thrown his clubs in a water hazard.

"Champ" or "Champion" was a particular model that Aeronca built, ie. the 7AC Champ or 7EC Champ. This, however, is not a Champ. It is an Aeronca 65TL Tandem, which preceded the Champion model by 4-5 years.
