does the Reserves help/hurt your chances for OCS?

Need a little advice,

I turned 25 in August, 2003 and just graduated from college and completed my OCS application and all required tests except for the PFT. I am interested in being an aviator.

I had a DUI/DWI three years ago and my probation ended in August, 2003. My OSO has just informed me that I need to wait one year after my probation ended to submit my OCS application.

I am thinking of joining the Reserves in the interim but don't know if this will help or hurt my chances of getting into OCS next October. I am getting conflicting advice...especially with the situation with Iraq (I don't mind being called up to Active duty but if I am there for more than a couple of years I will be too old, 27 1/2, to go to flight school).

Thanks

I don't know about the reserves.

See what you can do with the courts. You might be able to get that probation retroactivily terminated early. Also, getting the DUI expunged/dismissed might help. Search the internet - you can probably do all this yourself, without a lawyer.

One note on being activated, if you are activated I believe that would be considered active duty time which would then allow you to obtain an age waiver for being over 27.
