I'm about to grad from ROTC and will be heading down there real soon. I'm married and was wondering if I will get PCS orders to Whiting and then temp duty to P'cola for IFS and API?
If it's not definate, can you call the detailer and request them?
Thanks!

Yes married guys and prior service guys get full PCS to Pcola (it will say that your follow on destination is whiting, but you can still PCS again to corpus , vance or moodey if you want.)

I am not sure if you will get DLA though. If I remember correctly, married guys do. Your YN at your unit should be able to tell from your orders. If he can't call PSD, they will know for sure.

You get DLA. Just let your admin officer know. My orders are PCS, and my move is paid for. I am married/prior. See you there.

Hey Larry Paul,

I find your inquiry to be extremely ignorant. Perhaps you should follow the guidance that you were provided by your shipmates. What is your problem?!

P.S. Try and stay away from large apartment complexes with your POV. Antics like that just won't fly down here in P'Cola, nor are they becoming of a future naval officer.

Maverick was a bit direct...but you like it that way. Make sure you get confirmation from your admin types up in Kansas, and if they can't give you the no joke affirmation that you like, call 850-452-2000, and ask for PSD. Then request to speak with one of the civilians that work in Officer Student Records. I would call this week as they will be slower than normal with Thanksgiving approaching.

Another verification is on Page 1 of your orders. Under Part One, where it says report in Feb 04 under Intermediate (01) Activity, you'll see ACC on the right side under EDA and UIC. If that code looks like this: ACC: 150, you won't be entitled to DLA. The way it was explained to me is fairly simple. You only get DLA if you remained on active duty and NRTOCU Kansas was a permanant duty station for you, ie. You are dislocated from Lawrence, Kansas. You went to BOOST, separated, and returned to active duty with Whiting as your permanent; NROTCU Kansas was not an assignment for you, it was college.

Hope this helps, and stop trying to get an order mod. Kansas is cold, Pensacola is not.

You have to love it when friends give you sh*t. Thanks Mav. Thanks for the replys guys. I'm trying to get an order mod to stay up here till my wife gets done with grad school, just an extra month. I'll ask the detailer about the PCS to Whiting.
Yes Kansas is cold and it sucks, but Basketball if fun to watch.

I don't know if it is different for ROTC guys, but Married SNAs are not required to go to Whiting. I am married and will be heading to CC. It has mostly to do with whether the Navy moves you here. If you take DLA and DITY/Mil move, then you will be going to WF. The benefit of that is that you are eligible for on-base housing, which isn't bad here.

What?.......maybe I'm missing something??!!.....did you say that if I DITY move to Pcola for API I'm going to WF no matter what???....that does not make any sense to me.

what i read into that is if I do a PCS to P-cola (aka move All of my crap there), I have a better chance at CC (aka moving All of my Crap agian??).....that makes absoulty no sense whatsoever! Like I said, maybe I'm missing something............someone fill me in (i'm moving in two weeks for API).

Call PSD or Flight Management to find out for sure. In October they (flt mgt) were saying that if you are in A-Pool/API longer than 180 days, you are then PCS and will go to Whiting. This may have been in conjunction with trying to get ppl to sign-up for the grad school program. I may have read somewhere (I think) that you can do a partial DITY with a TDY move, like the move to Pensacola for API. The only people I know that have accepted money from the Navy to move here are FOs or heading to WF.

Again, check with PSD/Flt Mgt.
