Hey GTodd,

Sorry bout the injury, but good to see you're thinking positive and going to try and get back...I was wondering if you have any advice for myself, TexAG, SliderSD, and anyone else going to OCS this January...for instance did you take anything that proved to be invaluable? And since we might get the same staff...who's the guy you don't want to see in your face, etc. Also, is it basically two hours of PT/day unless you have an event or the like...Please add anything you think would be helpful...Thanks.

Hey, I'm currently in the OCC 184 class. If you're going in Jan for the OCC 185, you're going to freeze!!! Go ahead and right now get some Under Armour brand long underwear. Make sure it's tactical. (olive drab color) Invest in some thick socks and whatever cold weather gear you want. I really feel bad for those going because it's gonna be a cold winter in my mind.

GTodd,

Hey... some info for you, hope it helps. I am a Lance Corporal in the Marine Corps Reserve now, enlisted back in 2001. Before my enlistment I had 2 rotator cuff tears, and subsequent surgeries on my left shoulder (threw my arm out playing baseball). The doctors let me enlist after examing my range of motion. Now, in March of this year, I did it again while playing softball. I had the third operation in April. Everything healed up pretty well, but some stiffness remains. The OSO took one look at my medical records and thought I had no business applying. After cranking out 14 pull-ups, he changed his mind. They are submitting my package with no reservations now. You should have NO problem getting back to OCS, but let your shoulder heal, COMPLETELY! As far as the military paying for your surgery, thats up in the air. They would have paid for my last operation if I had been on active duty when it happened. I would think they would since you were at OCS when it happened, but I couldnt tell ya for sure. Hope that helps. I will help ya anyway I can. OOH RAH!

Thankyou for the info Corporal, maybe we will be in the same OCC class. Yeah the funny thing is that I banged out 14 (actualy 17 but they only counted 14) pull ups after I dislocated my shoulder at the pft in the 6th week and they still sent me home. How do you send some one home who secores a top pft? (ran 18:40 and of cource 100 sit ups) man I love the Corps but some of the things they do is screwy.

Hey GTodd I've got another question for you...Do they keep the squad bay at a certain temperature or is it a$$ cold in there?

Gtodd,
14 pull-ups, 18:40 run and 100 crunches AFTER the dislocation??? Damn... that I cannot explain... or even venture a guess at... wow. On Parris Island, that would be considered to be an Honor Graduate! I am not sure if we will be in the same class... I am applying for PLC and that would be seperate from OCC since I would have to do 2 six week sessions of OCS. Take care man.

Hey whiskey it was prety cold in our squad bay because a few windows were stuck cracked open. Usualy Candidates slept in their sweats and under their ponco liners to expedite getting up in the mourning.

Coporal occ 184 was full of pt studs, I was avg there was a candidate that ran a 14:30!!!!!!!!!!!
OOORAH!!!!!!!!

LOL 14:30? Thats ridiculous fast... makes me wanna vomit! And as for using poncho liners... in my opinion, its for the lazy people that can't make a rack like they are supposed to. The "first offense" of using them at boot camp got you smoked really bad.

Yeah we all used that trick at first untill the Sg.Mj caught us!!!!!! We broke out racks for a few more weeks. Once week 3-4 rolled around we started to sleep on the rack and under the liners again, oh well. Man who ever thought I would be saying that I miss OCS.
