Did my first solo today!

I loved it! Especially in the San Jose, Ca. area. It was a low-ceiling day (~3k'), heavy traffic, and good turbulence! I had so much fun. I just have to remember that the comm button isn't a trigger

I can't wait for my check ride. I need to invest in my own headset. The ones they rent are like vice-grips!
If anyone has any advice on the cross-country, in congested airspace, I'm all ears.
I'm praying for more bad weather.

i just flew to ontario from san diego. ontario is a big airport compared to the ones that i am used to flying at. advice, stay away from wake turbulence from the big jets. just be confident and if you ever need advice, ask the tower.

Congrats, it's pretty cool the first time you solo. Just my 2 cents.....don't be cheap when it come to your headset. Buy a good one and you'll have it for a long, long time. I recommend David Clark.

from experience I will agree with Ironnads on not going cheap on the headsets. I'm dealing with the aftermath of that decision at the moment.

Eliminate distractions, focus on your goals and visualize what you hope to accomplish.

I actually did go cheap, but have no regrets. I got a lightspeed (or some name like that). 29db passive, ear controls on the chord. Fits like a glove on my big noggin. Only $140 (shop gave me the gov't discount). I' only going to use it till my check ride 3/11. I start OCS 3/22, so I don't think I'll be waisting much $$$ on plane rentals after that.

i bought a cheap headset and it works fine with me. i plan on getting a better one when i have more money and am not a poor college student. congrats funkonomics
