DD214-1

Any reserve retirees in 2025 get this new DD 214-1 that's supposed to be issued to retiring reservists now?

If there is a process for this, it is unclear to me, and it seems not to have automatically been triggered unlike the 20 year letter and SBP election.

Wondering if this is one more thing to engage with MNCC about. It's taken three months and five emails to get a simple points correction done.

None of that sounds like a good "improvement" that it was supposed to be. Keep up posted please, and good luck

Nope. Did not even hear about a new DD-214.

Desire to know more intensifies…

It was a DoD mandate for DD-214s to be issued to all separating/retiring Reservists by Feb 2025.

And here's NPC confirming they were going to comply with more relevant parts summarized below:
Sept. 26, 2024
Q: Who will get a DD-214-1?

A: Following implementation, the DD-214-1 will be issued to Reservists who are:
  • Separating, retiring, or being discharged from the Navy Reserve Component
Q: When will Reservists receive the DD-214-1?

A: The Navy expects to implement the DD-214-1 by the end of the calendar year, issuing the document earlier than the February 2025 deadline directed by the DOD, to better take care of our people.

Doesn't look like I can get one after the fact, that appears to be very useful for us reservists.

My understanding (which is admittedly pretty thin) was that this document will take the place of the traditional statement of service that SELRES receive.

Update 1: I sent an email to MNCC:

Good morning MNCC,

I retired from the Navy Reserve effective 1 July 2025 and was not issued a DD-214-1 as was scheduled to be implemented for all separating Navy Reservists from February 2025 onward as described in the fact sheet linked below:

https://www.mynavyhr.navy.mil/Portals/55/Support/PayPers/CPCResources/240924_FACT SHEET_DD-214-1.pdf

I have reviewed my OMPF on MilConnect today and confirmed that no DD-214-1 from this event is in my record.

Please advise on required actions to resolve this.

MNCC's response:
See Additional Resolution Sir, For Reserve members, unless you detached from active orders of 90 days or more, you are not typically issued a DD214. However, if you contact your prior CPPA/Admin team to let them know what's going on, they should still be able to submit a request to TSC for a correction.

Not only do they not know their new policy, but they couldn't be bothered to read what I provided.

I did email my previous NRC's N1 shop asking if this is in their scope of responsibility, and if not, then I'd circle back to MNCC.
