This is an amazing video and worth the time it takes to watch. When I first opened the clip I assumed they were just going to recover it and restore it elsewhere. Instead they uncovered it, repaired it, taxied it out of the hole and then the same guy that wrecked it flew it away. Pretty cool stuff and stunning scenery.

The Navy recovered an LC-130 17 years after it had crashed in 1971. By the time they dug it out only 3 feet of the tail was still sticking out of the ice. Unfortunately another Herk crashed during the recovery effort, still an amazing story though.

Look up "B-29 Key Bird". It was an amazing private almost recovery. The end is hard to watch.

Former squadron mate "Beetle" was killed in the second crash. Good man.
