What actually disturbs me is seeing the swastikas, communists and anarchists who advocate overthrowing the US. Code Pink, etc are more cheeky and fun shenanigans while those are cruel and tragic.

Or just as bad: The idiot high school "punk rockers" who think they are "edgy" and "cool" with their Che Guevara posters in their rooms....

Go smoke your joints, listen to Anti-Flag, idolize Che and STFU. We'll go DO something with our lives....

To be fair, Bad Religion is a pretty good band despite their retarded lyrics :D

That video was very powerful, m0t. I just hope guys like that Marine realize that 99% of us appreciate what he's done and what he's given for this country.

Just because someone is liberal, non-Military, non-Christian, etc, doesn't mean they are any less patriotic than you.

Sure, but where liberal, non-military goes, lack of patriotism tends to follow... It's some sacred cow that "everyone is as patriotic as everyone else"; bullshit. While not a requirement by any means, serving one's country is a good indicator that you love it, while being a hippie/leftist/code pinker/etc and never having found an American conflict that you didn't protest is a good indicator that you are, how can I put this softly, "less patriotic".

...or that you needed money for school, you want to fly for the airlines, you want to make daddy proud, etc... People join for a whole slough of reasons.

Wrong. I doubt you've ever really met one of the above people. Sure, some are just stupid kids that want a cause to stand for and a team to be on...read some of the posts on this forum, you don't think the military gets a lot of the same types??? Most of the above are actually very knowledgeable and articulate on the issues they are involved in.

As evidence by these pictures and videos, yea?

Did you watch any of those anti-Marine protests on zombienation? They're disgusting and most of those idiots are grossly misinformed and just spouting completely nonsensical garbage. I could pound back a six-pack of beer and would still be more politically articulate than most of them.

Intelligent leftists, I'll give you that. Hippies, the court's still out.

But protesters and so-called "activists"? Meh. Not the finest specimens of humanity on either side of the fence. If they were articulate they'd have better outlets than rallies and other such self-congratulatory mayhem.

I was watching a documentary on Gregory Peck last night.

He was a staunch critic of the war in Vietnam and protested it ferociously.

He however believed in national service and raised his sons accordingly.

When asked what he was most proud of in his life? In 1970 his son enlisted in the Marine Corps and served two tours as an infantryman in Vietnam.

Those were the ones I was referring to, as well. The Hall of Fame ones were the best/worst (depending how you look at it). Still a little disappointed no one caught the quote in my original post...

Agreed. Not all hippies are environmental terrorists, not all right-wing Christians bomb abortion clinics.

It's called bias for comedy. One could just as easily make a video that paints a picture of military members being just as stupid, if not worse.

Not saying that I agree with code pink or their message, but it's invalid to use a skit from a comedy show as evidence that [group x] is stupid.

Why is it so hard for some of you to call a spade a spade?

Yes, they have the right to do whatever they want as long as it's within the law. No, I will never have an ounce of respect for any of them - how can they be taken seriously?

I wasn't referring to the Daily Show skit at all. Did you watch those YouTube videos or look at any of the Zombie Time links that were posted?

http://www.zombietime.com/berkeley_marines_2-12-2008/
(pay special attention at the 1:40 mark until the end of this video)

None of those videos are really edited, most of them just look like they were recorded with camera phones.

While I will be voting for Obama and I'm sure that irks many on this forum, I am literally nearly brought to tears and sick to my stomach to think that some of these people would technically posture themselves as my fellow democratic constituents. These asswipes do not help our cause, our beliefs, nor our platforms. If anything, these people inflict more damage upon the credibility of those that align themselves to the left than any republican smear-campaign or rumor-mill ever could. Think about that one for a second.
