Good input all, IMHO. My advice would be never to stray into areas East of about 13th alone. Know some say it is safe, but you might be caught in the crossfire! Some hot clubs down around 8th and 9th, BTDT, also read about them in the morning papers.
Georgetown great fun. Changes during the year. Summer, schools are out, tourists are in, different mix of folk. Clyde's a great place, uppitty, but BOH is enough to make a grown man cry. Blues Alley great place in Georgetown, if Jazz is your thing. Never know who is going to drop in, have seen so many Jazz greats there.
Adams Morgan is just one big party, getting bigger. Anything and everything goes on there. Big Easy type atmosphere, ten times over. Good times.
Capital Hill fantastic place, but more of an "in crowd" and you must know what you are doing. Crime in the area, esp northern part is an issue.
If you have not yet, go to the Wall, the Viet Nam Memorial.
