Current Status of the BDCP

Well it's been a little while since I've talked to my local recruiters but last time I check in with them they had no idea of the situation of the BDCP. I have progressed too far in school so ROTC is no longer an option for me.

I just want to know what the current state of the program is and how I can go about obtaining more information on the program as a whole. Any responses would be greatly appreciated.

nope, the only reason they pro rec'd those over 6 months was under the agreement they would be in a non pay status, before that agreement they were just going to give those a "N" or "X", in addition it looks like they are not going to issue any paperwork for those to sign until they are within 6 months of graduation/OCS.

So you are saying that at first there were going to be no DA that had over 6 months to graduation? That is exactly what I was told by the OR and he did not want to submit a packet (or so I was told, but I'd like to believe this guy is very honest). So this changed and people were FS with time left to graduate?

Correct, at first we were told anyone that was put in who was greater than 6 months out would not be sent to board, then a quick email came out that said they would look at those up to or about a year out, however they wouldn't be signed only left in a limbo status, basically if a person maintains their eligibility great, then we have a person to go to OCS, if not then they aren't signed and we have no obligation to redesignate them like we do BDCP, so before signing they will get a questionnaire verifying info, including updated physical since a physical exam has to be current through OCS, this means it has to be under 2 years when a person goes to OCS.

In one of my post I believe I stated BDCP was 100 for each FY, when I read the new accessions plan I realized I had missread the data before, there can be no more than 100 in BDCP at any one time.

That is great news and thank you for taking time out of your day to reply! I am sure it will not affect my situation too much the OR didn't want to talk with me much based on I will be 28 (even though I am prior service 6 yrs) at the time of graduation and I have a 2.9 GPA in engineering. Citing those two factors he pushed me to call him in a year to apply NUPOC. Still contemplating but not really thrilled about that idea. So, reading your post now maybe I will call and try to see if he would reconsider working with me on submitting for SNA/SNFO. Thanks again for your time!

I would have probably told you to get a hold of me within a year of graduation as well, but given the recent stats I would give it a shot, at least take your ASTB to see what you score, he should go for that.

You can submit a package for SNA/SNFO more than 6 months out from your graduation date? I could care less if I was getting paid. Does this happen a lot?
