We also made this trip numerous times in A-4's out of Oceana. We made our fuel stop at either Homestead or Key West and got our bearing out of Marathon TACAN with the next TACAN at Grand Turk, a looooong way. Then hopefully you got a good bearing out of there to hit Rosey Roads. Like BzB said, it wasn't bad in good weather where you could see the islands, but when there was an undercast, wooey. Regardless, we generally tried to send 3 a/c with the hope of having at least one good radio, one good TACAN, and one good IFF out of the three.
