At first glance, I'd agree with the democrats on this one ... but then there is nothing to stop the government from applying the Attorney General block on 'suspects of domestic violence' or any other group. So then I'd just have to say "he/she beat me" and the right to bear arms goes out the window? The NRA has it right on this one....
It will be interesting to see what the White House does here. If they withdraw support of the bill, then it would seem to some (me included) that they are balking at an idea they've been pushing for years with the Patriot Act - suspects of terrorist activity are guilty until proven innocent. If they continue support of the bill, they take a hit from the NRA.
Well - at least they didn't say "NRA opposes bill to stop gun sales to terrorists" (it is CNN, afterall)....
