Clubs in VA Beach/Norfolk?

Headed over this weekend--which ones are decent? Wife wants to dance, I want a drink; if you know the best spots to accomplish both, let me know.
Oh, and by "wife wants to dance," this eliminates:
Thrash/Death metal, Pole/Lap, 100% Redneck (some country's fine, but for the club scene, a little goes a long way)...

I have only been down to VA beach once but from that one visit, I can tell you that there really isn't anything out there in terms of clubs. There was this one bar/ghetto club type place but that's about all I remember seeing. There were also a few Mexican food joints with bars so that is always an option. I'm sure others will chime in if I missed something.

drink and dance? I suppose there is a bit of dancing going on at Catch 31 on 31st street. Kokoamo's (not a typo) off of Great Neck was a nice place to drink and dance/people watch last year... dunno how it's fared this year. I have a buddy who swears by Hot Tuna off of Shore Drive, but the crowd is unpredictable. The bars on the strip in VB are really not worth it - it's overcrowded, parking blows, and you can't cab it home if both of you drink - your car has to be out of the city parking lots by 2:45 or they're towed.

Downtown Norfolk has a few more options. Baxter's has both drinking/pool and dancing. Hell's Kitchen is good, along with Fahrenheit. I like Scotty Quixx, but am often overruled. Guadalajara has dancing and drinking, but also has a cover, which is pretty much asinine. I would stay away from Waterside (Bar Norfolk, Have a Nice Day Cafe, Blackfinn, etc.) - the atmosphere there is going to be... interesting... this weekend.

Is BAR Norfolk still downtown? That was a fun place, had some good dancing and a pretty decent bar too.

Greenie's Tavern. Follow Chesapeake Blvd until it dumps you into the commode that is Ocean View, and veer left. It is the first establishment on your right. The patio is awesome, the morals lax, and the VD rampant. 1/2 price cockblocks (jaegerbombs) on Thursdays!

Is that because of the same reason to stay away from the beach down here in Pcola this weekend......something about rainbows and fairy tails...?
We went to McGuires last night and... ugh. I'm used to wang jokes but what I heard in the mens' room made me want to puke up my dinner.

I also heard the weekly contest at flounders had been... modified... to suit this weekend's crowd.

No, this has to do with thugs and their ilk making life in general hell for the service folk (and their regular patrons) down there.
