If any A-4 driver from VA-164 off the Oriskany "lost" their jacket, I know where it is.
I take it that's the jacket du jour he's wearing... or is he a stand up guy and asking you to find the owner of one he's come across?

So he asked her, very nicely, to please not treat something that a lot of people worked very hard to earn as a piece of costume jewelry. She gave him the hairy eyeball, but she took them off.
Back when we designated Air Intel Officers separately from surface Intel guys they were all issued leather jackets. Oh, and they wore brown shoes too. But back then brown shoes were reserved strictly for aviation officers (note it wasn't pilot/NFO).Get over it....there a few worse offenses IMHO. Here's one that chaps my a$$:
1. Intel Officer (w/o wings) wearing a LEATHER FLIGHT jacket in uniform.

Wow... now that's hardcore. I wasn't there and didn't see the full context of that situation, but I figure if a soccer mom thinks wings are "hot" and a cool accessory, so be it. I earned them and I'm secure in that. I also understand your Pop's point too and commend him on his actions.
Of course, I'm guilty of:
1. Letting my then fiancee (now wife) wear my spare G-1 while we were dating. An airline pilot once asked her if he made a "...good Navy landing" when she wore it during a flight.
2. Bought my kid the Korean, Texas street special fake green NOMEX jacket with pilot wings on it. He loves that thing...
I understand the guys fascination with collecting too. I have 2X Navy G-1, and 2X AF A-2s currently in my closet. That's not counting the Willis & Gieger I bought my Dad complete with leather nametag sporting Wings and "Dad" on it. If it weren't for him, I wouldn't be here and I figured he deserved it since he missed his own chance due to prejudice and the times... No one ever said anything negative about it to him all the years he wore it at the DLA. In fact a lot of Naval Aviators used to come up to him and ask him, "...how's your son doing?" Or, "...that's great, I wish I did that for my Dad too".
Some of us can be on both sides of the fence...

I won't even buy clothing with lame ass logos. Won't ever see me in a "no fear" shirt or such.
... I'm getting CRS pretty bad lately
FUBU....now there's a brand that seeks racial equality and harmony. You should see me in my trick FUBU gear. Word. :icon_smil
Ummm, you seem pretty ate up with this whole Naval Aviator thing. Which car bearing a naval aviators wings license plate (plus matching rear window sticker), plus license plate frame with "Naval Aviation" and "Fly Navy" bumper sticker is yours?Of course, I'm guilty of:
