Am I wrong to be surprised to learn that the H-46 wasn't used in the Civil War???

What makes you say it wasn't? Because there are no photos?

Remember, the cameras at the time were most likely not able to keep up with the 145 knots of twisted steel and sex appeal that is the Battle Phrog.

You never heard the tale of Scooters laying Snake&Nape along the Emittsburg pike during Picketts charge?

Don't know about the rest of you, but 95% of those photos I had never seen before. Once again, they completely suck out any latent sense of romance about war. Except for Virginians (am one) and students of Civil War history, most folks don't realize how completely devastated Virginia was by that war. By a considerable margin, more of the Civil War was fought in Virginia than in any other state. Thanks ahw5 for posting this history of our country.

This explains a lot about one of The History Channel's long-held "mysteries". Thanks. Any evidence you know of that they also layer down CAS in support of the defenders of Rorke's Drift in 1879? I think the A-4 was like brand spanking new back then...

I like your thoughts and sentiment about historical perspective.

Of course, I also like the back-and-forth going on here :)

Yeah, the early Scooters were there, but still only had the A-4A models in 1879. They raised hell w/ nape on the Zulu hay-lined bunkers & thatched huts! Unfortunately Ron & BzB were still in the RAG.
