You are going to hear a bunch of different answer to that, and you are going to have to sit down with the family and figure out what is best fo you. From my standpoint, I couldn't have been seperated from my family for that long a period of time. In fact, the kids and spouse were the stress relievers that helped me through training. The biggest item that most SNAs/SNFOs are not prepared for is setting up their time management while in flight school. Set up a study schedule, and stick to it. That in and of itself saved a lot of grief with the family. They KNEW that Friday night and saturday were thiers. So, there wasn't any grief that I was studying in groups, with partners, or solo during the week or on sundays as I prepared for flights or academics.this seems like it isn't an option if you are to delve into your studies 110%.
I suspect Brett will be along shortly.
Children within the bounds of a responsible, mature, married couple are fine by me.
