Where?

The cool instructions wing 4 gave us sucked (read: there were none).

Where do I get my orders stamped/where do I show my face first?

You want to go to the TW-1 Student Control office. You need to drive down to the Flight Line and go into the hangar, the squadrons and TW-1 offices are in there on the top floor. Just ask any student/instructor walking around, they can help you. You need a flight-line pass to get there, so just tell the guard at the flight line that you are a new stud checking in.

Oh, congrats on selecting jets :)

When you come through the main gate, stop and get a flight line pass. It takes all of about 2 minutes. You are gonna have to get one anyways, so get it if pass and id is oopen. Makes it a heck of alot easier than explaining yourself to the gate guard at the flight line.

well, that advice is all well and good, but...

my orders say to check in uh today the 20th, a Sunday. no one's here. did you guys get stamped on sunday?

I'm guessing I'mma have to wait until tomorrow. So what time do the pool guys muster -or- what time do the new guys get indoc'ed so I don't miss it?

Today? That's retarded. You could check with the IWOs, but they most likely won't have a clue what to do. Check-in tomorrow I would say. You can go in anytime, but might as well show up around 8 or 9, that's when the pre-loads have to muster. It's not like Primary, it's an individual thing.

Its no big deal. If you want to cover your butt (you dont need to) you can call the iwo and have them log you in. 679-2321. They can put you in the log book. It really isnt a big deal if you call them or not. If you have any other questions pm me and I'll send you my phone number here on base.

Just watch out for the jerk stashes in the Stucon office. They only pick the most jacked up pool studs for that duty. Anyone want to second that? Fly Navy, I'm looking in your general direction. (BRING IT!)
BTW-good advice on not checking in on the weekend if at all possible. It can be a complete debacle if the IWO doesn't know what to do.

I'm (my class) at 20 months and counting. Going to the next boat and should wing in May. That would make this a 22 month TS program. Doh....

However, the training command is a great place to be. Home every night, no collateral duties, home every night, not at sea, relaxed command and did I say home every night. Every day here is 1 closer to retirement.

Pat, the person that you were asking me about, his name is on the side of 136.

Wouldn't it be more accurate to say, "Every day here is 1 closer to EIGHT YEARS until retirement?" :D

That's alright, I'm going to try and work it out so that my obligated service ends just in time to take enough terminal leave to extend me to precisely 20 yrs and 00 days.

(Of course, I know I will be involuntarily extended and brought back to be a TBS instructor or something...But at least I won't be in Meridian.)
