Hello everybody,

I decided to make this post because I was wondering what are my chances of getting selected for a SNA contract with the Navy are or a pilot contract with the USMC? I took the ASTB for the second time a couple of days ago and scored a 5/7/6. My background is that I am prior service (Army) and served 4 years as an 11B in 3rd Ranger Battalion. I earned my bachelor’s of science in Criminal Justice and graduated with a 3.79 GPA. I have 30 hours of flight experience in a piper warrior and I am currently working on my masters degree in management while working full time and being a father & husband. My athletic background was in high school I was a varsity wrestling team captain, and the team captain of both varsity Xc & track. In college I participated in Judo. In my spare time I mentor people wanting to join the military and go the special operations route. I know with Marine Aviation that you have to want to be a Marine First and the supporting the guys on the ground is the main mission. I do know that Naval Aviation prioritizes projecting power and engaging Maritime warfare. I just wanted to know my chances of getting selected with my current scores and background.

I'm not currently in service and I'm pursuing the naval route so I can't speak for certain. I will say as a marine corps pilot, pilot is your third job. In the order, my understanding is that you're a Marine, an Officer, then a pilot and you will fly less hours. Of course, some people love the marine corps and more power to them. Both my grandfathers, brother, best friend, and uncle were all marines. my brother in law just graduated marine corps ocs too and loves it so far. It sounds like a well rounded application. The scores are pretty good too. Idk about marines but navy has instant select when you have a 7/7/7 so marines may be something similar. But with those scores, sounds like you're a competitive applicant just depends on slots available. I know in the Marine corps, that's one of the few MOS's (assuming marine officers use that) that you know you're gonna go on to be a pilot if you go to OCS.
