Chance for hockey?

There is (or was) an adult hockey league in Pensacola, over at the Civic Center. It was the North West Florida Adult Hockey. Bunch of military guys played. However, the Pensacola Ice Pilots just folded so the guys don't know if the civic center will even have ice this season. Their link is http://www.usahockey.com/nwfhl/

As for Corpus, I looked into it, but you have to pay the full season. I dont know where I will be after October, so I am not gunna take the chance.

Roger, I'm back from SERE now. The league in Corpus is ok, there are enough good players from the Navy side to make it fun, plus you get to skate and blow off all the stress from flight school. The website is www.ccahl.com, don't miss the sign up date. You'd have to be a pretty legit player if you wanted to play for the Rays, ie you were a high end player in D1 hockey, but not good enough for the AHL or NHL. However, if you're a stud goalie they might like you for practice as one of my buddies was going to suit up a few games for them before it fell through, and another goalie played a few games for the Pensacola Ice Pilots. Like Master said we have a team that goes to play in Vegas, hopefully an annual thing now to play in the all military hockey tournament. Damn good hockey, AF has some good skaters from their hockey team and there were a few Canadian hockey teams that are of the guns and hoses variety (they let them in too).

I play DIII for Elmira College, I'm not trying to toot my own horn but every year the seniors get picked up by the Jackals which is the ECHL team in town and finish the season with them helping them in their playoff run. Usually some will stay in the ECHL but most filter down into leagues like the CHL and try to still live the dream. I've accepted the fact that I'm pretty much done after college but getting to skate with the Rayz wouldn't be a bad time. Again, if time allowed me to do so. And this is all from a wannabe perspective of course I don't mean to count my chickens before they hatch. Complete hypothetical(sp) situation. I played with a guy named Jay Lepine in Cornwall who went straight from Juniors down to the Rayz.

is there a Lacrosse league down here in corpus? I haven't laced up skates in a while, and would probably just hurt myself on a rink, but the weather down here is perfect for year round lax, unless its too damn yankee for the peoples here.

MWR Kingsville just submitted a grant (emerging sports program) to start a Lacrosse tournament/league. Pitch in and help it get started!

Good question, I'm a lax bum as well. We spent spring break last year playing colleges in central florida as a season opener, they weren't bad. Anyone know if there is any lax up in pensacola?
