Challenge Coins

Maybe "Wings" in Pensacola? I remember seeing some coins there but they were probably generic Navy/Marine ones..

If all else fails I may be able to help. I'm in VT-4 now but will only be here for a couple more weeks. Shoot me a PM and I'll see what I can do.

The Museum Gift Shop (NAS Pensacola) has a lot of coins, but I haven't actually looked at them to see what commands are presented.

Just talked to the CMC at NASC and he said they only give them out as awards (NASC Coins, that is.)

Most commands now have started to use Navy funds for coins. When they do that, they have to track who they give each one to, and it is usually then only given in gratitude or for sailor of the year type awards. I've only been lucky enough one time to get the hook up. It was worth asking to see if anyone had the hook up or happened to be a coin trader.

Perhaps only for CO coins are official funds used. Such was the case for a C5F three star command coin. The Flag sec'y had to track them.

Most squadrons have an official coffee mess that buys and sells and is audited...some have an unofficial mess as well. In most squadrons/ships, I've seen squadron coins for sale by the mess.

I guess I am a bit unlucky. I've always seen a CPOA coin everywhere I go, but rarely do I find a coin that has been made by the Officers or for open purchase. I don't know if they realize how great a fundraiser it would be after the first person tells their story of how they lost in a bar.

Officers have special coins, too. I had a coin created and minted especially for a group of friends that I spend the 4th of July with every year.

It can be done. Here are mine:

Schnugg,

Do you meet these "associates" every year in a compound in the middle of Montana?

I have a few more coins that I'm looking for. Maybe someone can help me out? If so, I'll more than return the favor for all the trouble.

New updated list of coins:
NASC
CTW-6
VQ-1
VS-22
VS-33
VS-38
VAQ-141
VAQ Weapons School
NAS Whidbey Island
USS Ronald Reagan
USS John C. Stennis

That is all for aviation units. If anyone has a surface and subsurface unit hookup, please let me know!
