I've recently determined my Freestyle Shark watch isnt going to cut it anymore, and since I've heard many good things about Gshocks I decided to go with one. My question is which Gshock should I get? I went to the store today and noticed theres about 6 or 7 different ones. Is there any one thats peticularly better suited for avaiton? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I've got the G-2248. It has a ton of useful features, and it isn't as huge as the others. It still looks like you have a vcr wrapped around your wrist though.

Well, I recently just bough a new Gshock, since my previous one finally died, I bought it when I was a boot seaman almost 13 years ago, and it lasted through Navy Dive School, duty on submarine, flight school, and getting bashed all over the place. I went browsing around while in Japan, and they had a case with HUNDREDS of Gshocks, blew me away. I had gone for a week without a watch, and it was driving me crazy, the difficulty of doing time zone conversions to ZULU and figuring out your perdiem is a bit much for this P3 pilot.... I opted for the all metal G3101 (no, I do NOT know that number off the top of my head, had to read it off the back).... I have had it for a month, and have been very happy with it. I personally want a secondary time zone (which I put to ZULU), multiple alarms, and have it light up, that will do it for me. It is a big watch, but it still takes everything you can throw at it, and keeps on going, plus, it doesnt cost as much as the OMEGAs and BREITLINGs some of my friends are sporting.

If you're out west Costco, similiar to Sam's Club in the east has a couple affordable G-shocks...I got a 2278 for $20 bucks...if it breaks I'll just spend another $20. It's got all the regular stuff, Glo, 5 alarms, Dual time, stop watch, countdown calender, etc. It's black and as anselmo said looks like a vcr on your arm, but it works and was cheap.

Thanks for the info everyone. I ended up getting the 2276 which has all the regular stuff and looks like a brick! Suits me fine though and a little more durable than the Freestyle! Thanks again.

If you want a tough, cheap watch, I recommend the Timex Ironman. It has most of the same things, and isn't visible beneath 3 layers of clothing.
