Has anyone found the "perfect" way to CC (concealed carry)??? I am still experimenting and like my never-ending search for the perfect airline crew suitcase, the results are still pending. Any good ideas or experiences to impart on the teeming masses ???

I have gone from shoulder to fanny to IWB to SOB to belt and back again. It seems there are just too many variables when you carry as a civilian (civilian emphasis here: LEGAL, TRAINED, AND RESPONSIBLE). Unlike our military or sworn LEO's and the like, everytime you change civilian clothing .... the method of CC is probably going to change as well ...... frustrating?? Speak to me ......

I'm with ya brudda. Hard to standardize when your clothing requirement is always changing. Of course, a standard method of carry is best if one is going to practice to proficiency for the presentation. So far, I seem to like SOB and IWB strong side fairly far behind my hip. I had a friend good with leather make me what is esentially a SOB IWB holster. I like that, but so far I only have that type holster for my mouse gun. FBI friend used an ankle holster with a Sig P228 (my prefered carry piece). He used it for quite a while, but really didn't care for it. One reason, of course, was the relative wieght of the P228. He went to a baby Glock and liked the ankle holster much better.
I have never used one.

I used an ankle holster attached to my boot. Walthers PPK/S .380 backup. Has been so many years since I carried one.

I carry within me, a lethal weapon....myself.

I've got a paddle holster, but as it is for a full sized glock, i can't really conceal it except in the winter - i look funny wearing my ski jacket when it's 65 degrees out.

Kinda off topic, but....

When LEO's are out of uniform, can they carry openly, if they have their badge on one of those leather belt badge holder things? Or must they carry conceiled? Or does it vary at different PD's and agencies?

i've found that an ankle holster always works well for me since i always wear pants. for my current weapon its an IWB holster. i love shoulder rigs but i hate to wear jackets all the time...so i only do that when its cold.

Yeah, ankles .... I have never tried them --- understand they are "hard" to run or move about smartly with--- maybe the new ones are better. Heard about sweating & chafing -- again, I suppose the new ones are better. 80% of my wardrobe consists of shorts --- so ankle holsters are not an option 80% of the time for me .

As a young boy, I was attacked by an enraged squirrel --- ran right up my pant leg and savaged me ... the horror ... the horror. After that, I switched to shorts and the potential problem has been resolved --- now I can see 'em coming. But shorts don't work well with an ankle holster ....:)

well i have the unfortunate luck to have a mug and color that most cops look directly at me then to my waist/pockets. thats one reason why i liked ankle holsters but you cant carry large weapons with them..which is a drawback.

I live in a warm climate and most of the plain clothes guys and detectives for all the local agencies wear openly on their hip with the badge on the belt just in front of the weapon. That way, folks that see the weapon will see the badge. It is actually fairly unobstrusive. Most people just aren't that observant. You are very unlikely to see an off duty cop wearing in such a manner because they are off duty. They don't want to be identified as a cop. If they are going to involve themselves in something off duty, it will be at their chosing, place and time. You probably don't want to be IDed as a cop when the kwiki mart is stuck up and you have the kids with you.

I still have to get off my butt and get my application in for my Florida permit. My MA one is no longer valid.

I've been carrying since the late 80s. Done the same as A4s...SOB, IWB, fanny pack..... even tried one of those 'pager pals' and a thing called Thunderwear. http://www.thunderwear.com/index.asp

Thunderwear is ok, pager pal is my least favorite....I prefer SOB with a large untucked shirt in warmer weather or a horizontal shoulder holster for cooler times.
