With the commencement of Carrier Week last night, I expected to see a barrage of posts on last nights first installment?! Perhaps these programs are a repeat and most people have seen them, but last night's was new to me. I was flabergasted when the Tomcat blew an engine and went down while doing a supersonic flyby. They hadn't foreshadowed that happening at all (a rarity for modern tv). Other than that, I felt it had merits for a newly accepted SNA.

I had my packet sent out on 25 April and got the ok less than a week later (01 May) for a 08 March 03 OCS date. I fully expected it to take at least 4-6 weeks, so when my recruiter called me I thought for sure there had been a problem. Anyway, I signed and swore in that Friday on a rainy day in Hotlanta and made the announcement to my family at my graduation party the next Friday. It made for a truly exciting week, to sign a contract for $1+ million worth of training and get to graduate with FLY NAVY written in yellow across my graduation cap, priceless! I had so many comments from people that saw my FLY NAVY, it made me feel great to be going into such a respected and revered community.

Everybody, enjoy Carrier Week and ready or not, here I come...

Congrats on the acceptance...I'm waiting for my PRK wait period to end, which'll be on June 20th, to send in my packet. I'm finishing up the security questionaire and gettin' myself in shape. Good luck and have fun at OCS!

Hell Yeah!!......congrats man!! I'm with Spaceman on the PRK wait, but I'm ready to be down there. Man, I'm ready. Anyhow, you said you were down in Hotlanta swearing in?

I'm in ATL/ Who was your recruiter? I have Cheif Raines and Parrish. Do you know who these ladies are, and what is your take on them. I don't think that they know a whole lot. Anyhow, congrats man.

Spaceman, how is the security thing?? I'm going to start on that next week/ I've heard it was a pain in the @ss. Let me get your take on it.

YEAH COME ON!!

Do you have to have digital cable to pick up that channel and show, or will regular Discovery Channel play it every so often?

YEAH COME ON!!

I have to have digital in order to see D-Wings. I don't know about your cable provider though. It might be different.

GO NAVY!!!

Security thing was going fine up 'til the employment...I've worked about a half dozen campus jobs that all have to be listed...plus the other half dozen outside of that...that's the only hard part

Kris

I didn't have a PRK or anything more complicated than a cardio consult due to a faulty EKG machine at MEPS, so I was happy with Chief Parrish's speedy handling of everything.

JP

Agent..Did you go to MEPS at Ft. Gillem, because I'm having the same problem now. I went, spent all day and still haven't completed it due to the EKG. Where did she end up sending you?

Spaceman....You have to list every single job? I'm in your boat w/ 1bout 12 different jobs since I was 15. Do you have to list names of mgrs, phone numbers, addresses, and all that? Will they contact all of them? Hmm.....I wasn't the best overall employee in my teens. Let me know....and how are your eyes doing? I just got off the phone w/ my surgeon, and he suggested I be ready for eye #2 on Friday. I'm really not looking forward to that procedure again!

YEAH COME ON!!

Ok, this is what my recruiter said...He said they do a mini background when they select and that could take a week to get back and then they look at OCS date and return with a date. Would they come back with a rejection faster?

Here is some information some of you might find interesting if you haven't been selected yet:

My recruiter said all the OPALS (which he basically said were the recruiters for the different 30 regions) are getting together this week to decide if they want to bring 100 SNA slots from the next fiscal to this fiscal, so there will be another 100 slots available.

That would be great! Too bad I can't turn my package in for 3 months! I hope it helps everyone else out though. Thanks for that info on the background.

YEAH COME ON!!

I got sent to a cardiologist near MEPS. The key was to express my desire to get the process moving and be as flexible as possible.

AGENT..........One more Q about your recruitement experience in ATL. Who conducted the interview, or did you even have one?

YEAH COME ON!!

I didn't have an interview. Chief Parrish told me that, although I had put intel second on my wish list, that I did not need to interview bc I was going to get the SNA slot based on my app.
